Connecting UK homeowners to Ukrainian refugees
Alongside working with companies that want to create a more diverse and inclusive world through their communication, More Diverse Voices offers pro-bono support for socially-driven startups and tech solutions.
We were trying to work out what pro-bono support could look like, when Max Haining (another Year Here fellow) messaged our WhatsApp group asking for support to help launch the tech platform UK Homes for Ukrainians.

More Diverse Voices offered free media support, helped to draft and edit their press release, and advised on which publications to send the press release and how to pitch journalist.
The result: X14 pieces of national, regional and trade press. The Independent, Yahoo, Indy 100, PA Media, Evening Standard and Express and Star

Why did this work in terms of More Diverse Voices pro-bono offering?
- A clear, compelling and impactful story journalists want to write about
- A short-term project (2 hours of consulting), with maximum impact
Since the launch of the platform, UK Homes for Ukraine has registered:
- 1K UK homeowners on the platform
- 482 Ukrainian refugees
- Made 4,312 connections
This is a really inspiring project that highlights the power of no-code tools in action.
